BOX 2007 LINDY SWANSON OAK PARK HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55082 CHIEF OF POLICE TELEPHONE: (651) 439 -4723 FAX: (651) 439 -3639 EMERGENCY: 911 November 26, 2001 Floyd & Ruth Keller 467 S. Fifth Street Bayport, Mn 55003 Dear Mr. & Mrs. Keller; I received your memo this morning ref. Mrs. Keller having received a traffic citation on Nov. 20, 2001. By reading your memo I am aware that you apparently pled guilty and paid a fine. I wish you had contacted me prior to taking that action as you obviously pled guilty to something which you believe you are not guilty of Once you have taken that action I can do nothing to adjust the speed on the citation. I am sure that you must feel a tremendous lack of confidence in police as a result of this situation and I apologize for that. Police need support from citizens such as yourself and I am deeply bothered anytime a citizen has a contact with one of our officers and the situation ends in a manner similar to this. I shall have a conference with the officer, Stanley Buckley, and discuss this matter with him. Also, your memo will be placed in his personnel file. I agree that the possibility of reaching and maintaining 50 m.p.h. at the described location and manuevering your vehicle without rolling it over is questionable at the very least. I do thank you for your input, only wish I had received it sooner. Be assured, I will look into this and, depending on my findings, will take appropriate action. Again, I am sorry that this happened and offer my personal apology and hope that this will not cause you to feel negatively towards police officers. incerely, Lindy wanson Chief of Police
