As per Councilmember Swensons re T contacted the cities of Stillwater,
Oakdale and Arden Hills, all of which douse a bus garage.
The Cit of Stillwater - According to Leo Miller, Stiliwater Police Department,
there have been no complaints from neighboring residents regarding the bus
garage located at the old prison site on the north end of town. He stated that
the bus garage has been there for about 30+ y ears and he is not aware of an
complaints during that time.
The Cit of Oakdale - According to the Secretai in the Inspection
Department, there were just a few houses existing in the area before the bus
garage was built. Basicall all residents coming in after the fact were aware the
bus garage was alread there. She said there were no complaints on file as of
when she began working for the Cit in 1980.
The Cit of Arden Hies - This is a little different situation in that Arden Hills
inherited the bus garage through a land acquisition from the pit of New
Brighton. According to Terr Post, Asst. Acct./Treasurer for Arden Hills, the
bus garage was grandfathered in and is a non-conforming use. He stated. that
I -35, I -694 and the Mounds Park High School surround the area on three
sides. The fourth side that is zoned. R-1. The have received, and continue to
receive, man complaints regarding the site. Most of the complaints come
during the winter months and are mainl about the noise of the busses running,
the smell of the fuel and just the sight of them in their neighborhood. Mr. Post
also stated that the Cit has re R to put in more screening b wa of
vegetation when the have come in for building permits, etc. Mr. Post stated
that without sa an negative about the site, he could not sa an
positive, either.
