Dear Mr. Johnson:
Please find enclosed two (2) full size and one ( 1 ) half size ( I I x 17) revised final plan set
incorporatin Bonestroo and Associates comments dated March 17, 2005 re the
final plan set. The project specifications have not chan Also enclosed is a cop of
the project specifications that specifies Ford T Al sin lockin curb box covers for
pavement applications.
The followin is an itemized response to Bonestroo and Associate's March 17, 2005
review letter.
Site La and Utilit Plan - Sheet 2 of 7
1. The project specifications specif Ford T Al sin lockin curb box covers for
pavement applications. See cop of specification enclosed.
2. Gate valve s for 4" and 6" line to condo buildin added to plan set. Note for
4" g ate valve and box added to plan set.

shop drawin submittal process after construction be The drawin will come
from the retainin wall manufacturer.

2. A retaining wall detail showing the storm sewer penetration has been added to Sheet
6 of the plan set. This design will be verified with the retaining wall manufacturer
during construction.
3. An emergency overflow detail has been added to Sheet 6 of the plan set. The
overflow was relocated slightly south of the previous location to avoid conflict with
the retaining wall.
Details — Sheet 6 of 7
1. The Outlet Structure Detail was revised as recommended.

Easements

General Comments
1. A copy of the easement with xcel Energy will be forwarded to the City when
received.
2. An extra copy of the plan set was included in the March 9, 2005 for the fire chief. An
extra copy is included with this transmittal as well.

the plans, valves in structures shall be furnished
with standard hand wheels.
e) Coarse Filter Aggregate
Coarse filter aggregate in accordance with MnDOT
3149.2H, 2000 Edition, shall be used for improved
pipe bedding per details.
f) Binder Rock
Binder rock shall be used to provide a stabilized
trench bottom where, in the opinion of the
Engineer, the existing trench bottom is too soft to
support the pipe and coarse filter aggregate is not
adequate for stabilization. Binder rock shall be
clean graded 3/4 inch to 1 1 inch crushed rock.
Crushed rock shall be resulting from an artificial
crushing process of rock, boulders or large cobble
in which substantially alIfaces have been fractured
by the crushing operations resulting in sharp
angular pieces. The rock shall be sound, hard,
dense, resistant to the action of air and water, and
free from seams, cracks or other structural
defects.
"Haul slips" showing the tonnage of all aggregate
materials delivered to the job site shall be
submitted to the Engineer.
g) Service Connections
Service connections shall be of the sizes and in
the locations directed by the Engineer. Stop boxes
shall be set flush with the finished grade at 7 1/2
foot cover. Services shall be direct tapped with 1
inch corporation stops with teflon tape, for all one
inch water services. one and one - quarter through
and 2 inch connections shall be made with tapping
saddles.
Connections shall be constructed as detailed on
the plans using the following materials or approved
equal:
Corporations - shall be equal to Mueller
H- 1 15000 with Mueller thread CC inlet and
copper service pipe outlet. The service
pipe connection shall be a flared joint.
Curb Stops - shall be equal to Mueller
H- 15154, Mark 11 Oriseal with flared type
joints.
Curb Boxes -- shall be Minneapolis Pattern
Curb Boxes. The length of the curb box

shall be for 7 1/2 feet of bury with
adjustment for up and down with
stationary rods. Curb boxes in pavement
shall have Ford Type Al single locking
covers. a
Service Pipe -Type "K" copper water tube

Fittings -All fittings shall be cast brass
with flare type connections.
h) compression Couplings
On pressure pipe, couplings for jointing dissimilar
materials, pipes with varying outside diameters, or
other purposes where compression couplings are
shown on the plans shall be equal to Rockwell
Cast Couplings, Type 431, 441 or 433.
i) Jacking Steel Casing Pipe
Casing pipe shall have a minimum diameter as
listed on the plans. Casing pipe shall be welded
steel pipe, new material, with a minimum yield of
35,000 psi. The following wall thickness shall be
used:

j) Polyethylene Encasement Material
Where polyethylene encasement material is
specified material shall conform to the
requirements of AWWA 0-105 for tube type
installation and 8 mil nominal film thickness.
k) Insulation
Styrofoam insulation, 4 feet wide and of the
thickness as listed on the proposal form shall be
