Dear Captain Beers;
On Tuesday, September 7, 1993, the new Stillwater Area High School will be open for
the first day of classes. I am concerned with the possible traffic.confusion that
may result in the Hwy. 5 area just south of Hwy. 36 There are certain restrictions
as to entering the school property from Hwy. 5 and I suspect that due to most students
unfamiliarity with this area that there could be some traffic problems. As I am
sure you are aware this area of Hwy. 5 has had heavy morning and afternoon traffic
prior to adding the new school to the area. I would appreciate it if you could
make your Troopers working our area aware of the anitcipated problems and possibly
have them spend some time in the area when able.to. Thanks for your anticipated
cooperation.
incerely,

Dear Mr. Siggerud;
I am writing to you in regards to concerns of a parking problem on the Hwy. 36
frontage road located within our community. The area of concern is just north of
the new Stillwater Area High School. This area is located on the southeast corner
of Hwys. 36 & 5. In recent meetings with administrators of Independent School District
834, I was advised of their fears that if both sides of this frontage road are not
posted with no parking signs, students attending the school will be parking on the
shoulders causing a traffic flow problem. The school is limiting the number of
parking permits that are being offered to students and are also charging a consider-
able fee for the permits. Due to the fee and the limits on permits, we fear that
students will be searching for areas within walking distance of the school, that they
can park their vehicles at. The school is due to open for classes on September 7, 1993.
I would appreciate any help you can give me with this matter in hope of "heading off"
an anticipated problem. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions
or if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Lindy Swanson
