Johnson; Jim Butler; Scott Richards; Mark Vierling Cc: terickson@ffe-inc.com Subject: Goodwill Industries - Tree Replacement Requirement OPH Staff - I received the list of trees to be removed and their locations from Todd Erickson, FFE, Inc., for the Goodwill Industries project proposed for the parcel north of Oakgreen Village. He is assuming that all existing trees on the parcel will need to be removed due to grade changes on the NW and NE parts of the parcel. The list contained many trees not considered significant in the OPH Tree Preservation Ordinance due to species or size. Out of 333 existing diameter inches, only 64 were considered diameter inches of significant trees. After calculating replacement inches per the formula in the ordinance, the required diameter inches of replacement trees are 85. In the concept landscape plan for the project, 108 diameter inches of shade, ornamental and evergreen trees are specified to be planted. City Staff have recommended that more trees be planted on the E side, particularly in the NE corner, to screen the building from the neighboring re sidential area. If the final landscape plan contains over 85 diameter inches of trees to be planted, the project will have no additional tree replacement requirement other than the recommended additional screening on the NE and E portions of the parcel.
