Julie Hultman From: kdwidin©comcast.net Sent: Monday, April 09, 2007 9:03 AM To: Tom Ozzello; Julie Hultman; Dennis Post ler; Eric A. Johnson; Jim Butler; Scott Richards; Mark Vier ling Cc: vvandell@ffe-inc.com Subject: Goodwill industries - Revised Landscape Plan OPH Staff - I have reviewed the revised landscape plan for the Goodwill project, and have the following comments: 1. 85 diam. inches of replacement trees were required, based on previous calculations of tree removal; 231 diam. inches of deciduous overstory, deciduous ornamental, and evergreen trees are included in the revised landscape plan. 2. The revised plan is attractive and the landscaping will complement the building and the site. 3. More trees have been added to the E side and NE corner of the property to increase screening. 4. Plant material is hardy and relatively resistant to insect, disease and cultural problems. As indicated in my review of 10/06, the two crabapple varieties listed are moderately susceptible to the fungal disease apple scab and, in wetter seasons, the trees will probably need to be sprayed with preventive fungicide treatments to minimize foliar damage. Alternatively, crabapple cultivars with greater resistance to the apple scab fungus could be utilized. 5. The landscape plans at this stage should include a "Planting Detail" showing how the trees and shrubs are to be installed, type and depth of mulch, etc.. 6. The site plans should also include details on the plants to be used for the bioretention system and infiltration basin plantings. If you have any questions regarding this review, please contact me.
