The plan shows a reduction in the number of thornless honeylocust and the addition of other deciduous tree species such as: Ginkgo, and Manchurian ash around the site perimeter. Also, more trees have been added in the SW quadrant of the site. These changes improve the plan and add more plant diversity than was in the plan previously. Planting Detail: It doesn't look as if the "Planting Detail" has been amended as recommended 5/30/07 to include the practice of removing the top rungs of the wire basket, burlap and twine from B &B stock prior to filling in the planting hole. These specifications are recommended by the International Society of Arboriculture since experience has shown that twine can remain intact and girdle trunks, top course of wire rungs can interfere with root growth and, if exposed, be a tripping or mowing hazard, and exposed burlap wicks water out of the root ball and results in root death and top dieback of the tree. The instructions for these steps should be included in the Planting Detail which accompanies the landscape plan and should also be communicated to the landscape installation contractor.
