FROM: CHIEF SWANSON - 6/6/03
I have had officers checkin the available parkin at Stillwater Ford the last several evenm*
Officers reported that the emplo parkin lot (west side of Neal Ave. N.) is onl 25%
full. The dealership lot has been reported to have 25-30 empt parkin spaces for customer
service/repair and several vehicles alread parked in that area that are in for repair work. This
would indicate that the dealership is operatin within the scope, or ver near as these are
estimates, to the limitations set forth via their CUP.
I do have a concern that this could however be temporar Stillwater Ford has been observed
44shippin out" man vehicles this week and I believe the are bein sent to the AUNI State
Fair where Denn Hecker is advertisin a large sale this weekend. When the sale is over
we ma see vehicles brou back to the dealership. The onl thin we can do is continue to
m *tor the situation and I intend to have officers continue to verif the available parkin next
om
week. I shall submit a memo next Frida as to continued success or an problems or concerns
that ma develop.

RE: Oak Park Heights -- Stillwater Ford
Dear Mr. Hecker:
Please -be advised that visual, inspections of the Stillwater Ford dealership located at 12969 forth 60" Street
have shown that your employees are currently parked on the Oak Park Ponds lot near Rainbow Foods. As
you are aware, this is in violation of the conditional use permit approved for the dealership.
At their January 14, 2003 meeting, the City Council approved a motion to amend the Stillwater Ford
conditional use permit to delineate the required parking stalls for repair, customers, employees, and auto
sales. Of the 520 available parking stalls on site, 56 stalls are to be dedicated to customer and employee
parking, 37 stalls to auto repair, and 527 stalls for auto sales display. The current car inventory at
Stillwater Ford is exceeding the allowable number, thug requiring illegal employee parking.
In order for Stillwater Ford to remain compliant with its conditional use permit, the parking issues will
need to be addressed in ten days from the date of this letter. City staff will inspect the lot on May 12, 2003
and determine Compliance. If the employees continue to park in the Oak Park Pond lot, they will be
ticketed by the Oak Park Police Department.
If yoii have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Scott Richards at 9521595 -9636.
Sincerely,
CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS
