Support for funding for the I -94 Corridor Transportation Feasibility Analysis
WHEREAS, the Interstate 94 (1 -94) Corridor is the principal east /west route for traffic thru Ramsey
Washington, and St. Croix Counties connecting St. Paul to the eastern metropolitan area, and;
WHEREAS, the I -94 Corridor is experiencing robust employment and population growth, and;
WHEREAS, the I -94 Corridor is experiencing increasing levels of congestion, reducing mobility in the
corridor, and;
WHEREAS, there are no planned highway improvements to the I -94 Corridor in the Metropolitan
Council's 2030 Transportation Policy Plan, and;
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has identified I -94 as a high priority
Interregional Corridor and is supportive of planning for mobility improvements in the Corridor, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Oak Park Heights recognizes the need to plan for mobility improvements in the
I -94 Corridor, and;
WHEREAS, this planning should take a multi - modal, highways and transit, approach to maintaining
Corridor mobility, and;
• WHEREAS, maintaining mobility is necessary for the continued prosperity and economic vitality of
residents, businesses, and commuters throughout the Eastern Metropolitan area, and;
WHEREAS, the first step in planning for a multi -modal I -94 Corridor is to complete a Transportation
Feasibility Analysis which includes analyzing highway and transit improvements.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Oak Park Heights supports the multi -modal
evaluation of the 1 -94 Corridor and a request of $1 million in State funds for the completion of the I -94
Transportation Feasibility Analysis.
