Widin Municipal Arborist Re: Landscaping - Ryder Site 11/15/99 On Nov. 12th, I visited the Ryder site and met with Bruce Dischinger, John Low, the engineer and contractor for the project and the landscape contractor. We looked at all the sites mentioned in the conditional use permit of 5115/99. My recommendations are as follows: 1. The proposed Iandscaping will consist of 6 ft. B&B `Black Hills' spruce. The species and size are acceptable. The trees should be planted as soon as possible and watered well. A one -year guarantee should be provided. 2. Southeast property line abutting Stagecoach Trail - there will be some additional plantings of evergreen trees along Stagecoach Trail to fill in the gaps for screening. This will amount to approximately 14 -16 trees, some new and some proposed to be transplanted. This is adequate for screening. I Some vegetation has been removed from the southeast comer of the property to provide traffic visibility - final approval of visibility issues should be cleared with Public Works/Streets. 4. Evergreens will be planted for screening along the north property line; approximately 18 trees should be used to comprise a staggered row of trees to screen adjacent properties and a few trees should be planted on the west end of the row to finish the screening of the bus parking area across the north side. An opening in the row of evergreens, for site access on the north side, has been proposed by the developer. This is acceptable as long as adjacent properties have adequate screening from the bus parking area. 5. On the south side of the property, there is a gap which should be filled by the planting of one evergreen. 6. The developer /property owner is to contact the property owner to the south regarding their preference for landscaping of the south edge. I would recommend that the current evergreens and landscaped slope remain. The evergreens in that location would be damaged by construction of a retaining wail. They are currently healthy and functioning well as a screen. The existing evergreens provide more screening than a retaining wall and new landscaping would provide.
