I just got the word back from our Police Chief and City Administrator as to the permit regarding the public safety aspect of your event in light of the location and the volume of traffic on the surrounding roadways at your site. I have been able to approve the permit subject to conditions relative the placement of the tent and displays. These conditions are as directed by the signage /special event ordinances and are noted upon your attached permit. (1) No placement (tent or display) in any utility ditch and /or drainage easement. (2) No placement of (tent or display) in any public right of way. (3) (3) Five foot (5') setback from property lines shall be maintained for the tent placement (it would make sense to do this with displays too). An extra request aimed specifically at the safety of visitors to your event is the placement of temporary snow fence at the perimeter of the event area (say around the curbing and surrounding your event area with an access point or two for entry). Again the concern here is visitors (particularly children) and vehicle traffic. I am to understand that this is green in color and should not overshadow your display and can be found at a local hardware or lumber type store if you do not have it on hand. Lastly, please be sure that anything you place out for the display and tent does not obstruct vehicle traffic sightlines for their path of travel on Osgood, Hwy. 36. and coming into and leaving from your parking area. I have shared it with our Police Chief and am waiting on his comment back as to safety and right -of -way issues. He is out of the offices for the remainder of the afternoon.
