SUBJECT: Oak Park Heights water problems.
I was looking over the correspondence to the Mayor of Oak Park Heights and
noticed that there is some confusion as to where this problem is and what
wetland is involved. After looking at the vicinity map and other documents
that you sent me I do not think that wetland 82 -310 is involved in this
drainage. It is my understanding that the natural flow of water would be
into land locked wetlands on the tract of Wildlife Management Area west of
the new prison rather than east into wetland 82 -310. That is why we have
been particularly unreceptive to the idea of dumping street run off onto
our property. I have include a copy of a map that shows the location.
I hope this helps clear up the situation. Because these wetlands do not
appear on the DOW inventory you may not need to become further involved in
the matter although your help would be appreciated. If my memory serves me
Kevin Lines worked on this problem and the pond that was designed to handle
this water without having water flow onto our property has gradually filled
with sediment and was not designed to have capacity for the amount of water
it is receiving now.
