Shodeen JAN 2 7 1993 Department of Natural Resources - - ti Metro Waters Division - - ` - " ' 1200 Warner Road St. Paul, MN 55106 Re: Hall Property Drainage Oak Park Heights, MN Our File No. 55 Dear Ms. Shodeen: We have finally completed the necessary field survey and proposed design alternatives to provide a specific overflow drainage facility to eliminate the flooding on the Hall property in the City of Oak Park Heights. A copy of a portion of the USGS quadrangle map is enclosed which shows the Hall residence, the City's storm water detention pond and the adjacent wetland. We have also noted the location of the DNR wetland 82 -310 as it relates to the Hall drainage area. This indicates that the proposed overflow would be into land locked wetlands on the Wildlife Management area west of the new prison and not into wetland 82 -310 as noted earlier in a memo from Tim Wallace. The specific proposal is to grade a drainage swale approximately 300 feet in length to provide an overflow route. The swale would be graded along the route shown on Drawing No. 1 and would have a three (3) foot wide bottom with 5 to 1 side slope. The spoil would be wasted along the edges of the drainageway, all areas seeded and mulch, with erosion control established as required. You will note that the swale would be about three (3') feet deep on the average with the deepest excavation being about four (4') feet deep. As an alternative, it would be possible to install approximately 275 feet of 12 inch diameter corrugated metal pipe with each end exposed to receive and discharge the runoff. The specific location is shown on Drawing No. 2 and would include restoration of the disturbed area with seeding and mulch. A profile drawing is also included which shows the piping alternative. This profile would also be applicable if a drainage swale is allowed.
