HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-03-04 Arborist Comments To: Scott Richards — a/ 4/10 3:U4 YM From: kdwidin@attbi.com To: srichards@nacplanning.com (Scott Richards) Subject: Landscape Plan - SC Mall LLC Date: Tue, 04 Mar 2003 21:04:59 +0000 Scott - I have reviewed the proposed landscape plan for the SC Mall 1,1,C project and have the following comments: 1. the requested "planting schedule" with species, no of plants and type of planting material, as well as the "planting detail" have been submitted as requested, and are acceptable. 2. the plant species are acceptable, being winter hardy and relatively free of insect and disease problems. 3. the landscape plan is acceptable,, given the constraints of the existing hardscape areas; however, I would suggest that the landscape plan for the outdoor seating area on the southwest side of the building ( "west grounds plan ") be re -done, since it could be much more attractive than the plan shown, using more plant varieties than just American viburnum and Pfitzer juniper. 4. two median areas in the southeast corner of the site are to be `moved and it was proposed to transplant the existing trees. These trees are a Prunus species and badly infected with the black knot fungus. New ornamental trees, such as a disease - resistant variety of flowering crab, should be planted instead.
