Subject: Landscape Plan - SC Mall LLC

Scott -
I have reviewed the proposed landscape plan for the SC Mall 1,1,C project
and have the following comments:
1. the requested "planting schedule" with species, no of plants and type
of planting material, as well as the "planting detail" have been submitted
as requested, and are acceptable.
2. the plant species are acceptable, being winter hardy and relatively free
of insect and disease problems.
3. the landscape plan is acceptable,, given the constraints of the existing
hardscape areas; however, I would suggest that the landscape plan for
the outdoor seating area on the southwest side of the building ( "west
grounds plan ") be re -done, since it could be much more attractive than the
plan shown, using more plant varieties than just American viburnum and
Pfitzer juniper.
4. two median areas in the southeast corner of the site are to be `moved
and it was proposed to transplant the existing trees. These trees are a
Prunus species and badly infected with the black knot fungus. New
ornamental trees, such as a disease - resistant variety of flowering crab,
should be planted instead.
