The telephone call lasted for about 10 minutes in which Mr. Bjorkman stated that he believed the City was trying to profit from his wife's death by auctioning off her personal property. Mr. Bjorkman also contested the removal of trees at the site as well as his cactus garden. He stated that he feels mistreated by the City and that justice was not being served. Mr. Bjorkman also demanded to know how the City could limit his presence from his property without a police escort as detailed in the letter sent to him via certified mail on 10/9/01. For my part I assured Mr. Bjorkman that the City was acting under the authority of the Court Order. I stated that any tree removal necessary to facilitate the removal of the structures was in fact necessary. When Mr. Bjorkman challenged that I had written to him stating that we would auction off his property I stated that those were not the words written to him on October 9, 2001. Mr. Bjorkman further stated that he did not remove any personal property from the site. Regarding the Letter of 10/9/01, Mr. Bjorkman did call me on 10/11/01 to contest the removal of the private property from the site and the demolition of the garage structure. I reiterated to Mr. Bjorkman that these elements were part of the Court Order and if he had any questions he should contact his attorney and /or insurance company. On Friday 10/12/01, I accompanied the Police Department at the site to conduct an inventory of the personal property. The officers commented that a significant amount of personal property had been removed since the time of the fire. The officers took an inventory of the property and I took photographs of the same. At this visit, a 1920's/1930's pickup truck was in the driveway, and tracks inside the garage indicated to me that it had been recently drug from inside to the driveway. On Monday, 10/15/01 when work began on the site, the 1920's/1930's pickup truck had been removed. Mr. Bjorkman did not make arrangements through me for the police to accompany him on the site to remove the belongings. Please contact me with any questions you may have.
