Public Works Update
11/20/09
Eric,
Well 1
Well # 1 is back online. Fine tuning the Variable Frequency Drive as well as motor balancing took place Friday morning.
I ran the well through several start up and shut down cycles to verify proper operation of the drive and also to verify the
VFD synced with the existing SCADA Autocon control Panel. I am awaiting the invoice from Keys Well Drilling Company
as it has to be attached to the Xcel Energy motor/ drive efficiency application for a refund. The application is due to Xcel
Energy by December 4 ", 2009.
SCADA
The SCADA contract was finalized and approved and a notice to proceed has been issued. I expect Aaron Muller of
Bonestroo will be setting up a Pre - construction meeting before installation of the system begins. I'll update as
information arrives.
Water Shut off Request 44230 Upper 54 Street N
Staff met with Kim Mordick of 14230 Upper 54 Street N (Structure Fire) on Friday to verify the water service to the
house is shut down. Notes indicate the water service was shut off after the fire; but by request was turned back for
cleaning and construction later in the summer. The owner requested the water service be shut off during the winter
months; however it appears large truck traffic bent the standpipe so the valve is no longer accessible. The owners are
fully aware of their responsibility to correct the problem and assured the city it would be corrected soon. We will return
to shut off service when the valve is accessible.
Street Sweeping
St. Croix Sweeping has completed fall street sweeping.
Sewer Cleaning
Sewer cleaning and televising continues. Preliminary verbal reports indicate the lines have been exceptionally clean and
no defects have been found yet. The full report which includes footage of the sewer pipes will be provided at completion.
Park Attendants
Staff has selected five candidates for council approval to work as rink attendants for the 2009/2010 season. The
candidates all cleared a background check from the P.D. The council action request will be on the December 1S , 2009
agenda.

Government Center
• Regular operation continues: locates, water meter reads, water shut -off requests and the like.
• Plows on the new trucks are purchased — staff is preparing for plowing by trimming overgrowth on city trails
• Staff is working to replace broken boards in the Brekke and Cover Park hockey rinks
• Staff is drafting an RFQ to replace the Fascia and Soffit at the Valley View and Brekke Park Shelters. The results
