Oak Park Heights, MN 55082 Ref: Mechanical equipment in side yard and surrounding fence structure Dear Mr. Berg, On June 17 I met with you to discuss a complaint that I received regarding noise generating from your mechanical equipment on the north side of your apartment complex. I informed you that mechanical equipment was to be fully screened from view. Your units are not fully screened and are open to another apartment complex north of this equipment. You stated that the equipment needed ventilation to properly operate, and we discussed a couple of options for bringing the enclosure into compliance with the Zoning Code. The first option was to reconstruct the existing structure so solid wall panels will be located on the east and north sides to help stop the noise projecting to the adjoining properties and the louvered wall and open wall to be on your side of the equipment. The second option was to construct a solid wall panel on top of the retaining wall to the same width and height of the shed and roof. With this design there would still be openings approximately one foot wide on the sides and top permitting air flow to the mechanical units. This issue needs to be resolved. If you have another solution, please present it for discussion. If not, present one of the above options with a building permit application form to the City for review. With approval of the design and the issuance of a building permit, you may commence the alterations. Compliance is to be met no later than July 31, 2011. If compliance is not met by this date, the City will have no other alternative than to take further legal action. .
