Re: Stillwater Area High School Stadium
Dear Mr. Dew:
On August 28 & 29 final inspections were made at the Stadium facility and there are outstanding
violations of the Minnesota's State Building Code. This letter is to inform you that a Certificate of
Occupancy will not be issued until all violations are corrected and comply with the requirements of the
Code, and a final inspection made by myself to verify compliance.
The code violations are as follows:
1. The handrails for the aisle stairways do not comply. The bottom handrail shall be extended to the
end of the nosing of the last stair tread. This condition occurs at four (4) locations on the home
side and three (3) locations on the visitor side.
2. A handrail shall be installed at the bottom of the aisle stairways adjacent to the handicap seating
area.
3. The doors at the entrances of the press box may not swing over a step or landing.
4. Vertical handrails shall be placed in the accessible toilet facilities.
5. Engineer specifications and design plans shall be supplied prior to the removal of the cross bracing
of the steel vertical column at the west maintenance entrance.
6. Specifications from the manufacturer shall be supplied to verify that the aluminum stairs, ramps,
landings, and walkways comply with the slip resistant requirements of the accessibility code.
Upon further review and/or inspections of this project I may add additional items that may be in violation
of the Minnesota State Building Code. Until such time as the certificate of occupancy is issued any use of
this facility will be at your own risk and that of I.S.D. #834. The City of Oak Park Height is requiring that
you and Mr. Braebender acknowledge receipt of this letter by signing this document and returning to City
Offices. n
