Tree numbers and species are satisfactory and compare favorably to the approved landscape plan (dated 4/24/09). Some tree species were substituted, but the species changes are acceptable. Five (instead of 7) deciduous understory (ornamental) trees were planted, but trunk size was somewhat larger than listed in the landscape plan. The shrubs installed follow the landscape plan and plant list fairly well. Changes seen are acceptable. In all, 11 deciduous overstory (shade) trees, 5 deciduous understory (ornamental) trees, and 20 coniferous overstory/understory trees were planted. The plant material is of good quality and the condition of the trees and shrubs appears to be good, except for two sugar maples planted on the north side of the building, which are in fair -poor condition, having large sunscald (winter injury) trunk wounds. Landscaping will be re- inspected in 2012 and any dead or dying trees or shrubs will need to be replaced. The total diameter inches planted comes out to 86.5 in. - close to total inches indicated on the landscape plan. The tree replacement requirement, and amount of cash in lieu of tree planting, will stay the same as indicated in my email report to staff of 11/3/11. The tree replacement requirement can be re- calculated once the landscaping for the south part of the development has been installed. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this inspection or report. Kathy Widin Arborist City of Oak Park Heights
