Aoa result of the cancellation of the May G 2002 special meeting of the Planning Commission, each of these applications will appear on the Planning Commisison agenda of May Q If the Planning Commission does not vote to set a special meeting on May 23, 2002, a recommendation will need to be made by the Planning Commission at their meet of May 9, 2002. City staff met this morning to discuss the projects and the remaining period of review allowable for the projects. As | mentioned to Ken Hooge on the telephone yesterday, the last opportunity the City will have to take action on these projects will be the City Council meeting f June 11,2OO2. With that date rapidly approaching, it may be that June 11th will bethe first and only opportunity the City Council will have to consider these requests without an extension beyond the 120 day review period. Therefore |om writing to encourage you tosubmit any revised plans tonly office for review os soon ea possible inany case and also to recommend that a letter of request be sent tothe City which waives the 12O day review period allowed for each of these applications. Our efforts to insure that the proposed development will compl with the expectations of the cit and with our own needs, will be better served with additional time for further plannin The Oak Townhouse site plan g enerated a considerable amount of discussion at the last Plannin Commission meetin and we are workin to develop a viable plan, consistent with cit plannin direction, zonin and applicable ordinances. Further discussion of McKean S West will be more productive after the Cit Council deals with the Joint Powers A on Ma 14, 2002. We re that the special Plannin Commission meetin scheduled for Ma 6th, be rescheduled, possibl to Ma 23, for consideration of all of the applications listed above. I own the property on the Northwest earner of Oak green and 58 t h street. I recently met with Mr. Tim Nolde from Anchobaypro,Inc. From ghat I understand, W. Nolde s company is developing the area west of our house. First of all 1"d like to say that I'm aware of the fact that the counsel works long and hard at studying the impact and proper placement of these developments in this community. I y g m p have seen many of the meetings on television. I do believe you care and I know many of _ your decisions and consideration's are based on people and their particular situation s. Knowing this, I wish to present my situation and concern to you. Let me start out by telling you a little history of may family. we have lived in this house for 31 Y ears and have worked long and hard to pay off our mortgage and have always considered it as part of our retirement. My wife and I have raised two children in this hone and our 20 year old daughter still lives with us. we have obviously enjoyed living here but have seen the winds of change corn 'Ing. I am 5 S and nay wife is 5 5. At this age we are lookin g more closely at our retirement years and wish to plan where we will spend those y ears . I know this development behind us will be good for many new people moving into this community. I have no problem with progress and change. I do think that when a change this large' is about to take i place all around you, there should be considerations made for those who have lived n this community for so long and will be greatly affected by this change. We knew this development was corning and have considered moving in the past. The problem we've had is, with all the talk and plans that have been presented in this area for so long, we have not been sure how we .could even sell our house. one person in the neighborhood tried to sell their house and were inundated by investor who wanf to pay a little for their house to make big profits later on. They soon had to take the house off the market. we have not been able to make plans and work to see those plans carne to pass. My wife and I have felt that we have had little or nothing to say about our own destiny for a number of gears now. We were told on several occasions that our house and property were worth some fair money and that Presbyterian Homes would be contacting us to buy us out. From what we were seeing, that seemed so. Two houses in our small neighborhood were purchased and it looked like we would be approached soon. We waited and waited but no one called or me to talk to us about the urchasin g of our house. A couple of years have past and still ca p no contact. we have had to put our lives on hold now for years. This has been very frustrating and stressful on our lives. At the end of January, we received a letter from a Mr. Tire Nolde. My wife and I had never heard of Mr. Nolde or Anchobaypro, Inc_ before. Tim informed us about a meeting coming p going u which was oin to address our neighborhood. I called Tire and said I could not get to the meeting on that date. Tim said he would come to our house and talk to us p ersonally. after talking to Mr. Nolde, my wife and I were even more frustrated than ever. we understood what he was telling us and it left us sick at heart. He told us his company going to develop the property directly behind us and that he could not � Y was g g � afford to p urchase our house because of lack of finances. He said the only way he could p property urchase our was if his company received tax assistance through the City from a program called T.I.F. and that we could maybe get close to fair market value. Mr. Nolde kept eluding o the fact that we could also just stay in our house. He told us to be sure and g carne to the help meetings and push for T.I.F. assistance from the City otherwise he p wouldn't be able to p urchase our house. My wife and I felt like pawns between the City and this development company. All of a sudden our house and property value has dropped substantially. Mr. Nolde also told us that on that same day he was purchasing the Murray house alongside and behind us. Presbyterian Homes owns the old Nerhing house next to us. we now have become a lone house cut off from the rest of our neighborhood. To have a lone, single dwelling unit sitting here, surrounded by streets and n.ulti -- dwelling units, appears g g odd and out of place. It seems to us that this kind of structuring for development wou ld not even be allowed by the City Planning Board. with the development behind and i i alon g possibility side and the ossibilit of oakgreen Ave. being widened n the future, t looks a whole lot like a slowsqueeze to us. we have been through a lot of emotional stress in the y ast few ears over this situation and now it seems to have taken a turn for the worse. p My wife and I are hoping that our representatives on the Planning Board will NOT vote i to a pp p rove these site lane presented by Mr. Nolde until consideration s given to the residents who already lure in the oakgreen neighborhood.
