Re: Temporary "Special Event" & Permanent Signage @ 5800 Neal Ave. N.
To Whom It May Concern:
As of today, the Valvoline Instant Oil Change store located at 5800 Neal Ave. N. is in violation
of Oak Park Heights Zoning Ordinance 401, which regulates temporary "special event" and
permanent signage.
The store has a number of special event advertisement signs placed, including wall framed
poster board advertisement signs and freestanding framed poster signs at the business site.
The wall framed signs are considered permanent in nature and were not approved as part of
the business sign approvals. Accordingly these signs and the frames must be removed.
The ground framed poster signs are not considered to be permanent signage and are subject
to the regulations of City Ordinance 404.15.G.8 which allows their placement with a special
event permit having been issued for up to fifty days each calendar year. I have enclosed this
ordinance and permit application for your use. It can also be viewed at the City's web site
www.cityofoakparkheights.com.
Please note that the special event permit is a "no fee" permit; however placing special event
signage without having first obtained a permit is a violation of the City's Ordinance
requirements, which may be subject to misdemeanor penalties.
With this letter you are requested to remove the poster boards (including their frames) upon
the store exterior walls and any all freestanding frame board signs and any other special
event signage or devices upon the business site prior to the end of the day, Friday, August 28,
2009. A compliance check will be made after the 28 of August.
