Re: House Sewer Service
6188 Beach Road
Our File No. 6155
Gentlemen:
On December 2, 1986 we took elevations on the sewer service at the above noted
address and also inspected the sewer main on Paris Street where the subject
service is connected. The following is a summary of our observations:
1. From the clean -out located near the southeast corner of house address 6175
Paris Street to the main on Paris Street is 76 feet. This service con-
nects to the main about 6 feet downstream from the dead end manhole on
Paris Street and the service enters the main approximately 1 -1/2 inches
above the invert of the main. Our elevations indicated 0.85 foot fall
from the cleanout invert to the invert of the dead end manhole.
2. From this dead end manhole to the next manhole downstream is 87 feet and
the downstream manhole is 0.46 foot lower which computes the slope at 0.53
percent.
3. Taking this slope times the distance to service (0.53% x 6 feet = 0.03
foot drop) plus the 1 -1/2 inch jump to the service line (0.12 foot) we
estimate the service line has 0.76 foot of drop. This works out to be an
1.00 percent gradient or near the minimum slope desired but adequate if it
is a uniform slope.
4. Lamping the main between the intervening manholes was difficult on this
day because of fog in the line, however it appeared to be clean and in
good condition.

6188 Beach Road
Our File No. 6155
5. Apparently the sewer service from 6175 Paris Street connects to the 6188
Beach Road house service. It is impossible to determine if this connec-
tion is causing a problem however if pluggage occurs again the location
should be noted and perhaps uncovered to determine its condition.
Please let us know if you have any questions or require further information.
