The letter was sent to your company. I have attached it again for your review. On October 19, 2009, you applied for reroof permits for several twin homes in the East Oaks Development. I have completed final inspections on these projects, and below, by address, you will find the results: 5850 Oxboro Ave. N. This Building Inspection Department, like many in the Metro Area, has accepted photos in lieu of inspections for the sheathing and the ice and water installation. We have done so because of the difficulties in scheduling inspection for this type of construction project. As noted in the department policy, the photos must clearly identify the project and work being done. I have an additional 63 photos that you submitted that show the ice and water, valley tins, and papered roofs but do not clearly identify the dwelling. All of the photos are unacceptable. This letter is to inform you: 1) You are to make application for a roofing permit for the two units in the project done without the proper permit. Those units are 5880 and 5882 Oxboro Ave. N. . 2) If you have additional photos that clearly identify the dwelling and work being done they may be submitted for acceptance. 3) An appointment is to be scheduled with me to review the submitted photos and to schedule re- inspections of ALL the units above that did not pass the final inspection. The above request is to be completed no later than Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Please note that if additional inspections are needed, there will be additional re- inspection fees charged. Please note that a complete set of photos that clearly show that compliance with the ice and water / house wrap requirements of the code has been met is required. In addition, supply photos of repairs to damaged sheathing or roof decking. These photos should show existing damages and the repairs made to correct this problem. If you have any questions in assessing problem areas, please call me at 651 - 275 -9590. The photos you submit will be file with the permit inspection record for the specific project. As noted in the policy letter, failure to submit photos clearly showing compliance will result in the removal of shingles or siding. Box 2007 • Oak Park Heights, MN 55082 -2007 • Phone: 651/439 -4439 • Fax: 651/439 -0574 BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTRACTORS WITH ROOF, SIDING, OR WINDOW PERMITS • Permits must be posted in a location that is VISIBLE from the street and ACCESSIBLE to the Building Inspector. • Only one yard sign per contractor and it may not be placed on City easements. The sign may be placed on the residence's property and not Tess than fifteen (15) feet from back of curb. • Contractor's sign must be removed upon the completion of the project or they will be removed by the inspector at the time of the final inspection. • Photos must be provided of all required ice /water shield and house wrap, including window /door flashing. The date and job address must be recorded on each photo or page of photos submitted to the City. All pictures of the sheathing, valley metal, ice & water, house wrap must clearly show enough of the project to verify compliance to the Building Code. If not, you will be required to the remove the siding or roofing. • DO NOT CALL TO SCHEDULE FINAL INSPECTION: REQUIRED PICTURES MAY BE E- MAILED, DELIVERED TO, OR MAILED TO OAK PARK HEIGHTS CITY HALL. A FINAL INSPECTION TIME WILL BE SCHEDULED UPON RECEIPT OF THE PHOTOS.
