I have the following observations regarding the tree removal and landscaping for this project: 1. tree i.d. listed on the landscape plan is incorrect for many trees. Most of the ash listed are actually boxelder, one is an elm, and there are no birch. There are also at least 4 hackberry on site which are not identified. 2. The landscape plan is minimal but acceptable. a. there are 15 deciduous and 15 evergreen trees, as well as 2 ornamental trees to be planted b. the tree species are fine, being hardy, attractive, with few serious insect or disease problems c. plant size is appropriate re: zoning code requirements d. shrubs and perennial species are fine e. design of foundation plantings: 1. size not depicted accurately: "Annabelle" hydrangea is larger than "Little Princess" spirea and should be depicted so 2. crabapple is located too close to the building and should be located further out, at least 12 ft. from building and should be depicted at mature spread 3. design would be more attractive if shrubs were in groups of 3's instead of planted singly f. planting detail: ISA std; however, 1 inch of soil should be placed over top of root ball before mulching, to avoid root desiccation 3. no additional tree replacement is required Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this evaluation.
