Oakgreen Village
I have reviewed the landscape and other plans submitted for Oakgreen Village and have the
following comments:
1. The landscape plan looks good; however, there are a lot of maples (mostly red or of
partial red parentage) in the plan and the developer should consider substituting some
other species for some of the red maples. If an insect or disease problem comes along
which prefers red maple over other species, most of the trees on the site will be lost.
2. The 'Planting Detail' included with the landscape plan is good and conforms to the
Planting Standards for the City. The developer should make sure that the contractor who
is planting the trees is made aware of the required planting practices and that they are
adhered to. The trees will be inspected after planting and any trees which have not been
properly prepared and planted will have to be re -done.
3. Since this is a new plan for the site, 1 would like to see a list which indicates which
trees on site will be removed and which will remain, along with a calculated tree
replacement requirement, per the OPH Tree Protection Ordinance.
If you have any questions regarding this memo, please contact me.
