Call to Order: Chair Hauble called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Vice Chair Eder, Commissioner Krieger, Commissioner Melin, and Commissioner Viers; City Administrator Johnson, Public Works Director Kegley, Arborist Widin, andCommission Liaison McComber. Absent: None. II. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Krieger, seconded by Commissioner Melin, moved to approve the Agenda. Carried 5-0. III. Approval of Parks Commission Minutes August 20, 2012:Vice Chair Eder, seconded by Chair Hauble, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 5-0. IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports: A.Arborist:Arborist Widin reported that the annual tree planting was accomplished the last week of August. She stated that 17 trees were planted. She encouraged residents and adjoining property owners to water the trees well each week. She also encouraged residents to water their trees, shrubs, and evergreens weekly, especially ones which are less than five years old. Widin stated she was working on the tree removal and pruning list. She stated it would go to the City Council atthe end of October. B. Public Works Director:Public Works Director Kegley reported that the City Council approved the drinking water fountain project at the Brekke Park Disc Golf Course. He stated the City Council also requested that the tee boxes be concreted for stability and an ADA ramp to the playground be installed. Kegley reported that Wright Tree Service contacted the City regarding removing some trees along the trail system. He stated that he and Arborist Widin reviewed the site and granted Wright Tree Service permission to do the work. C. Other / Commission Liaison Reports: Commission Liaison McComber reported that the ribbon cutting for the new playground was held on Saturday, September 8. She thankedvolunteers and businesses for donating their time, services, or goods for the project. Chair Hauble, seconded by Commissioner Viers, moved to approve the Department/Commission Liaison Reports. Carried 5-0. V. Visitors/Public Comment:None VI. Public Hearings: None VII. New Business: 3DUNV&RPPLVVLRQ0LQXWHV 6HSWHPEHU 3DJHRI A.Discuss Fall Parks Walkthrough: Public Works Director Kegley reported the Parks Commission conducted a walkthrough of all City parks meeting. He stated he will type up notes from the discussion held during the walkthrough and provide those notes to the Parks Commissioners. VIII. Old Business: A.Capital Planning and Improvements Discuss Survey: City Administrator Johnson provided the Parks Commissioners with a list of various questions that could be included on a park and trail survey. He stated the survey could be linked from the or additional questions they would like to be a part of the survey. Commission Liaison McComber suggested adding questions regarding use of the summer park programming and allow people to suggest ideas they would like to be a part of that program. She also suggested adding a question about naming the new park and adding a question to gauge if people are interested in volunteering in a B.Discuss Plan for Autumn Hills Park Improvement Discussion set for October 17: Vice Chair Eder suggested an informal meeting which would allow those who attend to provide their comments. Chair Hauble suggested that the meeting be focused on the Boutwells community. City Administrator Johnson stated staff will prepare an agenda for the meeting. IX. Informational: A. Next Meeting: Monday, October 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. B. Meeting at Boutwells Landing: Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 5:45p.m. 6:45 p.m. C.
