St. Paul, MN 55113 -1372 Re: Upgrading of Commercial Manually Read Water Meters Dear Mr. Reed: The City of Oak Park Heights has been in the process of eliminating commercial manually read water meters for the past two years. This project is o ne of our on going efforts to minimize our water rates: The' cost for the upgrade will be shared by the City and the owners with the City absorbing the costs to upgrade or replace the water meters and the radio installation costs. The cost of the radios equipment will be passed on to the owner. The current cost for the radio - reading device is $140 each Each device can be wired to read two water meters. For buildings with more than two water meters, in close proximity, we can install multiplexer units which will allow up t0 16 water meters to be read by a single radio. Due to the changes occurring at the St Croix Mall we have held off making any changes there. The Lower Mall currently has nine water meters. Seven of these are active accounts. To upgrade these meters we need to install - a radios and a multiplexer for the Nail Salon, the Wellness Clinic, and the two meters in the old Cost Cutter space: A second radio will service Carbone's and the Army. When the vacant spaces in this area are rented we will add the multiplexer as part of the building permit. The last radio would be at Subway and will be delayed pending their decision on remodeling their store. Lower Mall Summary of Costs: Two radios at $140 each and one 4 unit Multiplexer at $73 for a total cost of $353. When the upgrades are completed you will be invoiced.
