HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-06-23 RESOLUTION 12 -06 -23 • CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION COMMENDING DONAL J. BORUT FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, DONALD J. BORUT was appointed in 1990 and served with distinction for 22 years as the executive director of the National League of Cities, retiring in June 2012; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Oberlin College, with a master's degree in public administration from the University of Michigan, Mr. Borut began working in city government in 1964 as a staff assistant in the Office of the City Administrator in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and WHEREAS, During his lengthy tenure as the NLC's top executive, Mr. Borut drew on his more than 45 years' experience in municipal government and organizational • leadership in the public interest sector, which included service as deputy executive director of the International City Management Association (ICMA), the nation's preeminent organization representing professional administrators in local governments; and WHEREAS, Mr. Borut has served on numerous advisory boards, editorial boards, and other committees in the public interest sector, including the boards of the State and Local Legal Center, the National Academy of Public Administration, The Center for State and Local Government Excellence, and the Association Mutual Health Insurance Company; and WHEREAS, Under Mr. Borut's leadership, the NLC nurtured solid relationships with local governments that have brought better communities, he leaves a strong legacy of partnerships and cooperation, including 49 state municipal leagues; now, therefore, be it NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Oak Park Heights herewith commends Donald J. Borut on the occasion of his retirement from the National League of Cities, thanks him for his outstanding service to the NLC and the thousands of participating cities, villages, and towns it represents, and wishes for him a happy and healthy retirement. • Passed by the City Council of Oak Park Heights this 1 , 2 12.
