Dear Mr. Hecker:
Thank you for submitting your letter of request to allow for temporary wooden
signage for your properties that is similar to the sign at Stillwater Motors. This
letter serves to notify you that new temporary signs cannot be created in the City
that are not in conformance with the sign provisions of the Zoning Ordinance.
The sign at Stillwater Motors was in existence prior to the dealership coming into
the boundaries of the City of Oak Park Heights. The City Council recognized this
sign as a legal nonconformity when a conditional use permit for this property was
approved. A condition was added for this sign that the useful life would be
determined by the City, just as with any legal nonconformity that is destroyed or
has deteriorated with age.
Regarding the sale of lawn tractors, Century Power does sell lawn tractors from
their property which.is adjacent to Stillwater Motors.
Please let me know if I may be of additional service to you on this matter.
Sincerely,
