Re: Pylon Sign — No Permit
Dear Dr. Wolff:
I have been in communication with your office since October, 2007 regarding the fire to your business
sign, temporary wrapping of the pylon with business information and the requirements to be met for
the sign face replacement.
On October 25, 2007 I advised Beth, of your office that local ordinance requirements apply to any sign
alteration, particularly that the background of the new sign face may not be white in color unless it is
completely opaque and does not permit any illumination through the face when it is on. I did provide
her with the basic information as to sign permit and contractor licensing requirements. I noted this
same information in my letter to you on February 22, 2008.
In my letter to you I also noted that if Wallace Chiropractic was no longer maintaining an office in the
building, that their sign should be removed and replaced with a blank, non -white sign panel if you plan
to have a secondary tenant on the sign.
I requested that you repair or remove the sign by May 1, 2008 and advised you that prior to any sign
alteration, the City needed to receive a permit application; two sets of colored drawings that included
the sign face size and other specifications and informed you that the work must be performed by a
licensed sign installer. I provided you with a copy of the sign ordinance, a permit application and a
contractor license application and directed that No work to the sign face or removal of the sign occur
without a permit having been issued by our Building Department.
New sign faces were observed in place at your business site. The signs were installed without permit
and review for City Ordinance compliance and currently violate City Ordinance requirements for permit
and sign design elements.

With this letter you are requested to have your installer complete and submit (1) a permit application
with the documentation noted above (2) verification that they are locally licensed for sign installation
or a complete local contractor license application, and (3) have the blank white illuminated face
panels replaced with completely opaque or a non -white or light panel or its power source terminated
no later than 4:30 p.m., June 19, 2008.
I have enclosed a permit application and a contractor license application for your convenience. If you
have any questions regarding this request contact me or Building Official Butler immediately. Failure to
comply with the requests herein will leave me no alternative but that of forwarding the matter to the
Police Department for city ordinance misdemeanor violation review and citation. Please note that the
citation, if issued, will be issued to personally.
Sincerely,
