Re: Pylon Sign
Dear Dr. Wolff:
This past October I spoke with Beth of your office regarding the fire to your pylon sign.
On the 25 of October I advised her that the sign may be wrapped with a banner until
such time the sign face was replaced, assuming that it would not be a prolonged period
of time.
At that time I also mentioned to her that local ordinance requirements apply to any sign
alteration, particularly that the background of the new sign face may not be white in color
unless it is completely opaque and does not permit any illumination through the face
when it is on. I did provide her with the basic information as to sign permit and contractor
licensing requirements.
Please note that if Wallace Chiropractic is no longer maintaining an office in the building,
that their sign should be removed and replaced with a blank, non -white sign panel if you
plan to have a secondary tenant on the sign.
At this time, it has been nearly four months since the fire occurred and the sign is still
wrapped by a banner. The sign is to must be repaired or removed in the very near
future but no later than May 1 2008.
Prior to any sign alteration, the City needs to receive a permit application, two sets of
colored drawings that include the sign face size and other specifications and the work
must be performed by a licensed sign installer. For your convenience, I have enclosed
a copy of the sign ordinance, a permit application and a contractor license application.
No work to the sign face or removal of the sign is to occur without a permit having been
issued by our Building Department.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this request and ask that you contact me
immediately with any questions you may have.
