The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report. Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans, specifications, and this Report on Plans must be retained at the project location for future reference. INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2830, no plumbing work may be covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made for applying an air test at the time of the roughing -in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 2, of the code. A manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the contractor /installer to notify the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry when an installation for a state contract job, Minnesota Department of Health licensed healthcare facility, or project in an area where there is no local administrative authority is ready for an inspection and test. The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) will be conducting the plumbing inspections for this project. Prior to scheduling an inspection with the DLI, the installer must verify that the required inspection fee has been submitted. Please contact the regional DLI plumbing inspector to schedule all required plumbing inspections. Water supply connections to fixtures or equipment which have inlets below the spill line, must be provided with an air gap or approved backflow preventer (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2000). This shall include all potable water connections to equipment not shown. This information can be provided to you in alternative formats (Braille, large print or audio). Using Minnesota Rules, part 4715.3700, the water distribution sizing appears to be undersized as shown on the water isometric, Detail No. 3, Sheet No. P1, where a 1 -inch line is shown serving a flush -valve water closet, a lavatory, a counter sink, and two exam room sinks and the velocity appears to exceed 10 feet per second. The cold water distribution branch serving these fixtures shall be at least 1 -1/4 inches in size until the water closet is served before reducing to 1/2 inch to serve the two exam room sinks. 4. Verify that the existing water supply and waste systems are sized to accommodate the added fixtures (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.3800 and part 4715.2310). 5. Cross -link polyethylene (PEX) tubing must meet Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520: a. The tubing system must comply with ASTM F877 and F876. b. When installed as a system in accordance with ASTM F877, the system tubing and fittings must be of the same manufacturer and be marked as required. c. When not installed as a system, the fittings must be marked with ASTM F1807, F1960, F2080, F2098 -01, or F2159. The tubing must list the fitting and tubing standard. d. Installers must be factory trained and possess a card documenting completion of training. 6. PVC plastic pipe used for the drain, waste, and vent system shall comply with ASTM Standard D2665, D2949 or F891 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0570 through part 4715.0600). PVC solvent weld joints must include a primer of contrasting color to the pipe and cement (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0810, subpart 2). 7. Plastic pipe must be installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0550 through part 4715.0600. Above -grade horizontal runs cannot exceed 35 feet in total length. 8. Cast iron drain, waste, and vent pipe must comply with ASTM A74, CISPI 301 -05, or ASTM A888 -07a (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0550 through part 4715.0600). 9. Above -grade horizontal plumbing piping must be supported as follows (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1430, subpart 4): a. Plastic pipe: at least every 32 inches. b. Cast iron: at least every 5 feet; or 10 feet when ten foot lengths of pipe are used. c. Copper tubing (1 -inch or less): at least every 6 feet. 10. The water distribution system shall be disinfected per Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2250. 11. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820. 12. The plans and specifications were prepared by a licensed plumber. Only the plumber who has prepared the plans may use the plans for construction. If another plumber is contracted to install the plumbing, they must submit their own plans and specifications for the project. NOTES: 1. The scope of this project consists of the remodel of an existing building. The plumbing installation includes exam room sinks, a counter sink, a lavatory, and a flush -valve water closet. The Minnesota Plumbing Code is available on our website at: www.dli.mn.gov /CCLD/Plumbing.asp The Office of the Revisor of Statutes incorporates all adopted code amendments since the 2009 published code. Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not undertaken within a period of two years. The fact that the plans have been approved does not necessarily mean that recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at some later time when changed conditions, additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary. • Approv :: Marise A.
