Johnson 14168 Oak Park Blvd Oak Park Heights, MN 55082 Dear Mr. Johnson, Please read this letter at the next City Council Meeting re: the renovation/expansion of City Hall. I understand that the current city facilities are inadequate for meeting the needs of our growing city, but I oppose any expansion of the office, garage, or parking space at the current city hall. The expansion some years ago was necessary to allow improved access • for staff and emergency vehicles without going through the residential part of the neighborhood. After reviewing the current proposals for renovation, particularly expansion, I feel strongly it will detract from the residential nature of our neighborhood. I would propose that the city services be moved to a new facility in one of the newer light industrial areas of our city, to better accommodate the need for increased office, garage, and parking space as well as improved access for emergency vehicles. If the city wishes to keep some part of their services in the existing building, I would support renovation, but I do not support increased square footage or increased parking. Although my taxes would likely increase by approximately $350 per year on a personal scale, a new facility is definitely overdue.
