I have spoken with the Site Supervisor from Jorgensen and he has indicated that it would be satisfactory if the City Council did want to take an un- escorted walk through the site on Tuesday evening. Additional items to discuss in more detail will include the appointment of a "color committee" and another follow -up discussion of the City DAIS height /scope. Please see Randy's email summary of the DAIS matter. OTHER ITEM: Councilmember Swenson mentioned the possibility of installing a WEi3CAM in a location that could take live video of the project as it progresses. Staff is preparing this information and will have it available for the meeting on Tuesday Page; 1 of 3 Eric Johnson From: Randy Engel [ randy _engei @huetowarchitects.com] Sent: Monday, June 09, 2009 5:00 PM To: Eric Johnson Cc: Michael Lueth Subject. Re: Dais Discussion 1. would like clarification of the City Council decision regarding; height..of the Dais as follows: (1) Should entire City Council Dais (i.e., platform) be set at 6" above Council Chamber floor? If so, results are: handicapped accessibility is maintained, eye; level of indiyadualfs) -- standing at rostrum will nearly match 54" high eye level of all persons sitting at Da' extra costs are likely for extension of platform and for raising of 3 seats at northeast portion of Dais fortity Clerk, City Planner {,. and City Engineer; 7- member public board can sit all at same eye level and with equal number seating positions either side of center seat. (2) Should entire City Council Dais (i.e., platform) be set level with Council Chamber floor? If so, results are: handicapped accessibility is maintained, eye level of individual(s) standing at rostrum will be higher than 48" high eye level of all persons sitting at Dais (i.e., they will look down onto seated City Council members); cost credits are likely for elimination of built -up platform., step, ramp and railings; 7- member public board can use Dais but with 2 seats offset from the center seat. (3) Should City Council Dais (i.e., platform) remain as designed (i.e., platform for 5 City Council Members and 2 seats for City Attorney and City Administrator at southwest portion of Dais would be set 6" above Council Chamber floor and 3 seats for City Clerk, City Planner and City langineer at northeast portion of Dais would be set level with Council Chamber floor)? If so, results are: handicapped accessibility is maintained, eye level of individual(s) standing at rostrum will nearly match 54" high eye level of those 7 higher seats at Dais and would be higher than 48" high eye level of persons at 3 lower seats; costs would not change. I recommend paragraph (1) of the above. Please advise. UETOW AND ASSOCIATES, INC. 6/2/2,009 Page 2 of 3 Randy L.
