Subject: Oak Park S Townhomes - Landscapin
Kris -
I have reviewed the landscape plan for Oak Park S
Townhomes and have the followin comments:
1. The landscape plan is unusual re the choice of plants and
arran g ement, but I think it should work out fine.
2. The species chosen are hard in Minnesota and have few insect or
disease problems. I would recommend not plantin the Amur
chokecherr It is a beautiful tree but not lon and is
subject to g irdlin g roots. The should substitute a flowerin crab
or Jap. tree lilac.
3. Several of the trees (su maple at south side of project,
lindens on north side, birch on east side) look as if the will be
planted too close to pavement. To avoid heavin of pavement and/or
root constriction, I recommend that lar shade trees be planted at
least 6 feet from pavement and preferabl further. If this cannot be
done, then the should look at puttin smaller-statured trees in
those locations.

30. The tree replacement re is 40 diameter inches.
Accordin to the current landscape plan, the will be plantin 50.5
diameter inches of ornamental and shade trees, so no additional tree
replacement will be re
6. The list of trees to be installed shows sizes of shade and
ornamental trees that are smaller than re b the Cit Code.
The code re a minimum size of 2.5 inches caliper for B&B
(balled and burlapped) shade trees and 1.5 inches caliper for B&B
ornamental trees. These are the sizes that should be installed.
7. The Plantin Detail states that biode twine can be left on
the trees after plantin The Cit Plantin Standards state that
the twine should be removed. The top run of an wire basket
encasin the root balls should also be removed at plantin time.
