HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-08-09 Police Chief Email Re Hecker Ord. ViolationKris Danielson From; Lindy Swanson [Imswans a@cityofoakparkheights.com] Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 2:30 PM To. David Beaudet; Kim Kamper; Kris Danielson Subject: Denny Hecker -- Routson Motors -- Ordinance Violation Our police department has been attempting, for the last three months, to get the automobile dealerships owned by Denny Hecker in compliance with city ordinances. The specific ordinance violation deals with their parking numerous vehicles on grass areas rather than asphalt or concrete parking lot. one of our officers went to once again talk with management at Routsons Motors due to the fact that they had been near compliance and now moved several vehicles back in and are again in violation. I received a very nasty telephone call from Mr. Denny Hecker this afternoon, advising me that "Barney Fife" had just been over to Routson Motor's threatening to issue a citation to the manager if they don't get their automobiles parked properly. Mr. Hecker was an extreme jerk to me on the phone, telling me that he is working closely with the Mayor, Kim Kamper, and Kris Danielson and is near having this resolved. I then asked Mr. Hecker if that was the case why, when our officers have met with dealership managers the last few "months ", didn't the managers advise of how closely they are working with the city. Mr. Hecker then blew up and told me maybe I should walk in the office next door and find out from city staff. I advised Mr. Hecker that I have brought this up several times at staff meetings and nobody ever responded and advised me that they were working closely with Mr. hecker on this. Due to the screaming on the phone and the negative remarks I was receiving from mr. Hecker I ended the coversation by saying "Goodbye Mr. Hecker" and hung up the telephone. I would suggest that this situation be brought up at the meeting on Aug. 14th so the police department can be advised what is being done. My officers are trying to do their job and I hope I am not wasting their time on this.
