Dear Ms. Heist:
Thank y ou for y our letter dated Februar 4, 2003. We have reviewed the area of Os and Upper
56' Street North per y our re The Council is correct in their concerns that the openin and/or
closin of access points can precipitate chan in traffic characteristics at nei
intersections. These chan can be hard to anticipate, which is wh it is premature to propose
additional traffic control an alon CSAH 24 at this time.
If the Cit determines that closure of the Oren Avenue mall access should be made, then
Washin Count will closel monitor the area for additional traffic control needs.
The installation of an additional traffic control on the Count Hi S includin stop
conditions or traffic si poses a si dela to the travelin public. While we would
co nsider all options available to maintain . a safe hi we do not install such devices without
onsi
proper justification.
We believe it is reasonable to re the developer of an project to provide a traffic impact stud to
help identif the potential traffic impacts caused b developer activities. This would help identif
where diverted traffic ma g o and the results can be helpful when discussin the issue and solutions
with local residents.
