This award recognizes those water systems that adjust the fluoride concentration in drinking water and achieve a monthly average fluoride level that is in the optimal range for 12 months of a calendar year, as documented in the Water Fluoridation Reporting System(WFRS). The CDC initiated the Water Fluoridation Quality Award in 2002 to recognize outstanding performance by water systems. For calendar year 2010, Minnesota was one of 29 states using WFRS to earn this award. Water utilities and their customers value the ability to demonstrate attainment of quality service. Awards can be a good tool for promoting water fluoridation and we hope that this award will provide you with an opportunity to highlight the excellent work being done by your system. To assist you in promoting this achievement, a press release template that can be tailored for your community is available upon request. Congratulations on this outstanding performance and thank you for providing safe, dependable drinking water for your community.
