Farmington, MN 55024 Re: Fred's Tire @ 14520 60th St. N.: Proposed LED Sign to Pylon Dear Jim: Per our conversation and the information you provided on February 9, 2009, I have discussed your proposal to change out two 3' x 12' exiting panel signs in the pylon sign at Fred's Tire with a single 4' x 12' LED sign with our City Planner. Unfortunately, the sign is not permitted as proposed. City Ordinance does not allow this type of sign beyond such use as time and temperature or fuel price. I have communicated with Fred's Tire Store Manager, Steve Behrens, regarding signage at the site and advised him that per Ordinance 401.15.G.9, there may be an opportunity for signage number increase through a conditional use permit, which would also require that all signage be brought into compliance with Zoning Ordinance 401.15. If your client would like to put together a comprehensive plan sign for the store and pursue a conditional use permit for the same, please contact me. The City would then officially consider the request at that time. Sincerely, JuliIA.
