NOTES
Tuesda November 21, 2000
Attendance: Tom Melena, Kim Kamper, Kris Danielson, Lind Swanson, Dan Parker,
Kathleen Mac L Koski
Discussion Items:
1. Introduction to L Koski the new Stillwater Area Hi School principal.
2. Development Update — The Cit informed the School District of several development
projects that are currentl takin place or will be takin place in the future. There is a
stron potential for a new car dealership to be located on Hw 5 and 58 1h St. across
from the Hi School. Development alon 55th Street is startin to take shape with
the United States Post Office and a housin development in Lake Elmo to the south.
Oak Park Ponds is almost at full capacit and the Kern Center continues to develop.
All of these projects could have a ma impact on parkin and could eventuall lead
to an increase of no parkin re on Cit streets.
3. Status of the Central Business District — The Cit Council will have a presentation on
two housin proposals for the area at its November 21st work session. The Met
Council has informed the Cit that the are no lon in the runnin for g rant
fundin
4. Stadium — The current stadium will need to under major renovations in part due to
the new bleacher standards as well as to update the field. The School Districtwill
have to decide how to proceed with the renovations and decide whether to build a
stadium at the Hi School. The except to make some sort of decision within the
next two y ears. The Cit indicated that parkin will be a maj or issue if a stadium is
build at the Hi School.
5. Fire Service — The Cit explained that the Blue Ribbon Fire Committee has been
learnin about fire and other emer services. The committee will be havin a
brain stormin session on the 281h to decide the next step to make a recommendation.
6. School Po ' lice Liaison — The School District is ver pleased with the School Liaison
Officer. The are impressed with how he is takin a proactive role b checkin with
departments to be aware of an potential problems as well as how he shows concern
for the kids.
7. Improved Relations — Kathleen Mac noted how the School District has improved its
relations with its service providers, especiall with the Cit of Oak Park Hei
