Hultman Planning & Code Enforcement Officer RE: Snyder Drws Store #5075 14617 — 59' St. North Snyder Drug Stores has been operating a retail drug store in the Si. Croix Mall since 1984 and before that it was a Reed Drug. For most of those years the mall was a vibrant retail shopping center. Over time the property has changed from a retail center to other uses such as offices and schools and Snyder Drug is the only retailer left on the property. Our lease expires in May of 2010 and we have the opportunity to move to a vacant space on a very visible site close to our present location. Due to its smaller size this store would bc more of a professional pharmacy with health related merchandise rather than the mix of merchandise you would see in a typical drug store. With this move it is extremely important to have a pharmacy drive-thru window in order to compete with the other pharmacies in Oak Park Height, in particular, with the Walgreen's store that has opened on the opposite corner of the interseciim Also the drug store industiy has created a demand for these drive thru windows that the public now expects to have in a new location. Our store hours would be 12 hours each day during the week and open 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday this store would not be open with the pharmacy closed. We expect an average of 24 — 30 cars a day to enter the chive thru or 2 to 3 per hour. This drive up window is designed to drop off and pick up prescriptions not to wait at the window for the prescription to be filled. As noted on the site plan, the cars entering the building stack on the property and do not infrin:e on any traffic on the roadways or alleys. The area will be Nvel 1 signed and the parking lot marked clearly showing the flow of traffic. We hope that the City honors Snyder's many years of serving the community of Oak Park Heights and approves this request so We can continue our business for many years to come.
