Agenda Placement Consent Originating Department/Requestor Community Development/Kris Danielson Requester's Signature Action Requested Approve Background/Justification (Please indicate if any previous action has been taken or if other public bodies have advised) Dennis and Merriann Weaver of 14373 Upper 56th St. N. are requesting a home occupation permit to conduct a mail order/internet sales business called visualgraphics.com as well as a backpacking outfitter consultant. They will have no employees outside of family members and will have no customers to their home. The business is operated via internet and telephone operations. As such, this home occupation permit meets the criteria for a home based business that is primarily office in nature and does not require a conditional use permit. Anthony Blanchard of 6257 Panama Ave. N. is requesting a home occupation permit to conduct a grocery coupon and fund raising consulting business for non-profit organizations. Mr. Blanchard intends to operate his business from home and will not be in the business of producing and conducting retail sales from his home. The business, as described will not generate traffic to the home beyond the occasional customer who has chosen to pay cash to him for his services. As the business is indicated to be that of a home based office, it does not require a conditional use permit. Copies of both license applications are attached for your reference. n CITY 07 1 V . Oak Park Heights,MN 55082 Re: Request for Home Occupation Permit Dear Mr. Blanchard: I have received your application for home occupation permit. In reviewing your application, it is my understanding that you wish to conduct a home based business to conduct the service of coupon book/fund raising services to non-profit organizations. I am placing your request for home occupation permit on the April 23, 2002 City Council meeting agenda. This item will be placed on the consent agenda, which occurs at the start of the meeting. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. While it is not required that you attend this meeting, it may be helpful for you to be present in order to answer any questions the City Council may have for them to consider approval of your request. You will be notified of the Council's decision, following the meeting. If they approve your request, your fee of$25.00 will be deposited and your home occupation permit prepared and mailed to you. If your request is denied, you will receive notice of the same and your fee will be refunded to you. Permits are good through December 31"of each year. Renewal is annually, with notification mailed to you regarding the renewal period arriving. Renewal fee is$10.00 per year. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Community Development Director, Kris Danielson. Sincerely, 9,uiti-, -rLu-Sd-rfl Pri3 . Julie A.
